The period from the end of World War II until 1989-90 has been named “The Cold War”. The conflict has affected an entire world in very many ways. The Cold War has had an enormous impact on developments in aviation, and is naturally one of the Norwegian Aviation Museum’s largest focus areas.
In addition, the conflict has been of particular importance to Norway, and in particular Northern Norway. Norwegian society has been affected in many different ways by the Cold War.
The Norwegian Aviation Museum wants to present the Cold War in greater detail. That is why we want to build a new exhibition pavilion, Isfronten, in Bodø.
It will be a museum focusing on the Cold War and its consequences in the broadest sense.
